DO’S and DONT’S of Holiday Company Parties?
DO’S :
With Company Holiday Parties happening all over the country, let’s go over some do’s and dont’s for employees hoping to have a good time,…….BUT,…not too good of a time.
* Do attend the party. Even tho the holiday season is the busiest of the year for many people. Declining the invitation can imply an individual doesn’t care about the company or his/her coworkers.
* Do behave. Even if the party is as jovial as jovial gets, remember….behavior is still being monitored by fellow employees and superiors.
* Do be gracious to the hosts. The company often covers the tab so be gracious when leaving for the night, thanking bosses for the food and drinks. Also…..avoid negative comments about the party, regardless of how bad something might be.
* Do ask about guests ahead of time. Most company parties encourage bringing spouses or partners to the festivities, but kids no,…unless the invitation specified it was okay. Many company parties are not ideal for attendance of children.
DONT’S:
* Dress with something festive, or conservative,….never over-dress.
*..Don’t get overly flirty with any co-worker,…unles you want to be the hot topic at the water cooler next day.
* Don’t overly indulge,..it is a recipe for disaster for your job.
* Keep discussions light, avoid discussing work, don’t say anything that one might later regret.
* DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE,…….Getting behind the wheel after a couple of drinks or more is never a good idea.
The World Registry of Wills suggests that if one still attempts to drive after too many drinks,…….satisfy oneself that you have a protection plan for your family at home by having already a prepared WILL with it’s location at the World’s Wills Locations Registry for the family’s quick retrieval.
Read MoreDiabetes and Insulin Shock?
In my 31 years as a Type 2 diabetic,….and a 16 month insulin booster user,……this blogger has had only one diabetic shock. That occurred three years ago while on vacation in Mexico in January. At the time, I didn’t know what was happening to me at 5 am at the resort we were staying in, but thought it was the onset of a stroke.?
My wife scurried around to find someone who might know where a doctor could be located. Finding a nite housekeeper who notified the Hotel owner who immediately went to a small neighboring town (about three miles). By 6 am, a doctor was at my bedside, where by now, any symptoms had gone away. Within moments,….he advised it was not a stroke nor heart attack, but after questions identified it as a diabetic shock.! While I was not at that time using an Insulin booster, I became an insulin booster user 16 months ago, and pay more strict attention to the management of my type 2 diabetes at 81 yrs, old.
This is what I learned about Insulin,……….”it is a protein pancreatic hormone secreted by the islets of Langerhans that is essential especially for the metabolism of carbohydrates and is used in the treatment and control of diabetes mellitus.”
